The Kankakee County Health Department website was originally designed,
architected, and developed by Jake Kronika
between 2003-4. Due to improvements in technology, and weaknesses discovered
through an evaluation of the first generation site, the KCHD
enlisted the assistance of Gridline Design
for a number of improvements.
In the current version, the website for the Kankakee County Health Department employs web standards-compliant HTML, extensive CSS, and JavaScript with the jQuery framework to deliver a much richer experience for users. In addition to the visible aspects of revisions made between 2009 and 2010, a number of enhancements were built in under the hood, including the use of Apache server-side includes (SSI) to reduce reduncancy, and a range of search engine optimization (SEO) modifications.
